Tottenham have to unleash Troy Parrott

Now is the time for Tottenham Hotspur to unleash Troy Parrott.

The 17-year-old has yet to make his first-team debut for the club but now, one feels, is the time for Mauricio Pochettino to bring him into the fold.

Spurs face Arsenal in the north London derby this weekend and this is not to suggest that Parrott should be starting against Unai Emery’s men in one of the biggest games of the club’s season.

But the Irish striker, an ace at youth level, is needed on the bench.

Spurs allowed Fernando Llorente to leave the club upon the expiration of his contract and that has left Harry Kane as the club’s only senior striker.

For the first three games of the campaign, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has not named an out-and-out striker on the bench thus far in 2019/20.

Parrott has scored 15 goals in 13 outings for the Under-18s, along with four in 13 for the Under-23s. He began this season with the latter and netted twice against Manchester City in a 3-1 win in Premier League 2 earlier this month.

Without Llorente, and with Kane needing support, there can be no better opportunity to bring the teenager into the fold.

It would send an extremely positive message, that the talent within the Under-23s is there to be utilised and that, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

Of course, Pochettino has been here before; the likes of Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp and Juan Foyth have all thrived under his tutelage after being introduced to the team at a young age.

Bringing Parrott through next may seem like jumping the gun – he is still a teenager and has yet to play a single minute of senior football – but sources have confirmed to Football FanCast that hopes are high that the youngster can develop into a genuine first-team player in north London.

With Llorente out and Kane needing some genuine support, Parrott’s time has surely come.

He could be the next beneficiary of Spurs’ commitment to youth.

Leicester City: James Maddison comments on playing at the very top following summer rumours

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison has spoken of his desire to play at the highest level.

The England man was linked with moves to some of England’s biggest clubs in the summer, and speaking to The Mirror, Maddison has confirmed that he intends on getting to the top if he can.

I want to play at the highest level my ability will allow me to,” Maddison said.

“I like to think I’ve my head screwed on with the transfers I’ve made. I’ve played League One, in Scotland, the Championship and the Premier League. I worked my way up.”

Maddison has been in fine form for Leicester ever since sealing a move to the club following his spell with Norwich City previously.

His attacking play last season saw him become one of the standout attacking midfielders in the top-flight, as he notched seven times and set up a further seven goals for his teammates in an impressive campaign for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Maddison also put in an impressive 205 crosses during the season and created 13 big chances for his team as he became a mainstay in the Foxes’ first XI.

The England man will be hoping to get his chance for his country this week when they take on Kosovo following their 4-0 hammering of Bulgaria yesterday.

It’s hard to see Maddison ending up anywhere but at one of the elite clubs in the next few seasons.

He’s clearly ambitious and trusts in his ability, so a move to a team like Manchester United or Manchester City might not be too far away.

He could be successful there based on his creativity, and if he continues to develop like he has been doing at Leicester, he should have a long and healthy career at the very top.

Tottenham fans react as Lo Celso returns from Argentina duty with an injury

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was revealed by news outlet Conclusion that Giovani Lo Celso would not be featuring for Argentina against Mexico, and would instead be returning to the club after picking up a groin injury.

The summer signing from Real Betis was withdrawn midway through his country’s last outing against Chile due to an issue with his groin – an injury which he himself played down – but Conclusion reports that it has been enough to see him return to north London for treatment.

Lo Celso is yet to start a game for Spurs since his arrival from Real Betis, making just three appearances from the bench so far equalling a total of 44 minutes combined.

It seems as if some of the Spurs fans below aren’t very happy with the news.

One said that he’s ‘absolutely sick’ of hearing news like this, whilst another made the somewhat reactionary statement that Spurs’ season is over following Lo Celso’s injury.

Let’s take a look at some more of the reaction from Tottenham fans on Twitter…

Arsenal’s predicted starting XI against Watford on Sunday

[ad_pod ]

Arsenal will face Watford in the fifth game of the Premier League season on Sunday, following a mixed start for the Gunners.

Their record reads two wins, one draw and one defeat. But, whilst there is room for improvement, their opponents can only dream of such form. They are yet to pick up maximum points and have already seen a change of manager, with Quique Sanchez Flores returning to replace the outgoing Javi Gracia.

In his search for all three points, it will be interesting to see what line-up Unai Emery chooses. Here, we predict his starting XI for the match at Vicarage Road.

How do football vloggers afford to watch their team week in, week out? Find out in the video below…

The Gunners’ goalkeeping number two, Emiliano Martinez, has made headlines this week by saying that he is as good as, if not better, than Bernd Leno. The Germany international will keep his place between the sticks this weekend but, if he makes any more mistakes like the one for Christian Eriksen’s goal in the north London derby, the 27-year-old Argentinian may get the chance to back up those claims.

In defence, we should see the same composition that faced Spurs two weeks ago. As the only left-back available, Sead Kolasinac will keep his place by the process of elimination, while it is much the same story for Ainsley Maitland-Niles on the opposite side. David Luiz and Sokratis are likely to be chosen at centre-half, but Rob Holding’s return to full training will certainly give the pair food for thought moving forward.

Against a Watford side they should expect to dominate, Arsenal could return to a 4-2-3-1 formation, which would see Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka line-up in the midfield. The former has had a fantastic week, as he was called up to the France squad for the first time, and his 7.35 average WhoScored rating so far this term speaks for itself.

The latter, meanwhile, has not been as impressive, picking up an average of 6.65, and was even said to have picked up a knock whilst playing for Switzerland. However, it does not appear to be anything serious, and he should start as he has done on three occasions already this season.

Next, we move on to the three behind the striker. Nicolas Pepe recently withdrew from the Ivory Coast squad to work on his fitness, and his freshness should see him keep his place on the right-wing.

In the middle, Dani Ceballos can expect to play in a more attacking role, just as he did in his best Arsenal performance to date against Burnley when he notched assists for both goals. That leaves the left flank to select. In an attempt to shoehorn both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette into the same side, Emery has asked the Gabon international to start out wide. However, with Lacazette recently being ruled out due to injury, the 30-year-old will be needed elsewhere. As such, Reiss Nelson should be reintroduced to the side after being benched for clashes with Liverpool and Spurs.

That means Aubameyang will lead the line. Having scored three goals in the first four games of the campaign, he will be hoping to add to that tally against the Hornets.

Southampton vs Portsmouth is an irrelevant rivalry, claims Danny Mills

[ad_pod ]Southampton and Portsmouth are due to face each other for the first time in seven years tonight in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The last two fixtures have finished all square.Derby matches are tasty affairs. Tensions are high, office spaces fall silent, friends don’t speak, families break up, relationships fall apart, tribal instincts return and people tend to get extremely violent and punch each other because, you know, football.Even horses aren’t exempt from fan-delivered throttlings. For everyone on the south coast, this particular match is a very big deal. The winner will be soaked in glory for the foreseeable future, while the loser will be left to contemplate their very existence. For Danny Mills however, the south coast derby means very, very little. In fact, the ex-Leeds United player considers the rivalry so insignificant in the grand scheme of footballing conflicts that he’s compiled a long-list of alternatives he believes are to be more important, reaching 33 before he gets bored…

Everton fans livid with Pickford after Manchester City defeat

[ad_pod ]

Everton fans have blasted Jordan Pickford after he made a series of mistakes during the club’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City on Saturday.

The 6 foot 1 England goalkeeper conceded three times at Goodison Park, and a number of supporters were unhappy with the manner of the second goal.

Riyad Mahrez bent a free-kick into the bottom corner to give Pep Guardiola’s champions a 2-1 lead, but the shot was to Pickford’s side of the goal and crept into the bottom corner.

He then went on to let in a Raheem Sterling volley, before haring out of his goal in an attempt to tackle Bernardo Silva; he was unsuccessful, though City were unable to score from the chance – leading the Three Lions No.1 to visibly smirk about what could have been another goal for the visitors.

Fans, thus, were unhappy with the form of the stopper as the Toffees slipped to another defeat.

Indeed, Pickford has conceded 10 goals in his last four games, with Everton winning just one of those – a 3-2 triumph over Wolves.

During and after the match, Everton fans were quick to show on Twitter just how disgusted they were with Pickford’s performance…

Nottingham Forest’s predicted XI vs Brentford

Nottingham Forest host Brentford on Saturday as they look to extend their unbeaten to ten Championship games.

They currently sit fourth in the table after picking up four points on the road from two matches, but now they’re back at the City Ground they will look to exert their dominance over a very inconsistent Brentford side.

However, the Bees are unbeaten in three themselves and the form of Ollie Watkins poses a danger to the Forest backline, with the 22-year-old scoring a hat-trick against Barnsley last weekend.

Forest have looked solid in defence this season with only nine goals conceded in ten league games, even though captain Michael Dawson is currently out injured.

His replacement, Tobias Figueiredo, slotted in very well alongside Joe Worrall, who has also impressed recently, against Blackburn and will once again be valuable to his side picking up points.

Sabri Lamouchi has utilised his squad well in Forest’s unbeaten streak, but a familiar line-up against Brentford is quite likely to yield all three points.

Here is how the Frenchman’s side could line up on Saturday.

The recall of Joao Carvalho is the notable change, and his inclusion could provide a spark that Forest occasionally lack going forward – they relied on a superb strike from Joe Lolley to earn a point at Ewood Park.

So far he has not reached the standards he set last season, when he averaged 1.2 key passes per game and 1.4 successful dribbles, but he does have an assist and if he can find space he could unlock a rigid Bees defence that has conceded only eight goals.

One factor which has made Forest so dangerous is their varied multi-faceted attack, even offering a threat from deep with Matty Cash scoring one and assisting two.

Yuri Ribeiro has also provided quality service with an average of two key passes per game so far, a factor which makes him deserving of a start ahead of Jack Robinson, who by contrast hasn’t managed a key pass in any of his last three matches.

In the middle of the park, Samba Sow and Ben Watson’s consistency has been key, with 82% and 81% pass accuracy respectively.

Perhaps more importantly, they have made more interceptions than anyone in the squad. That will be key to cutting out the service to Watkins, and if they manage that they could even sit top of the table by the end of the day.

Liverpool fans divided over Georginio Wijnaldum’s RB Salzburg display

Liverpool fans are completely split on the performance of Georginio Wijnaldum, who endured a mixed evening against Red Bull Salzburg.

While it was probably the match of the Champions League so far for spectators, we’re sure Liverpool’s midfielders didn’t enjoy their 4-3 win on Wednesday night too much.

Indeed, the game was enthralling and end-to-end, meaning Jordan Henderson and Wijnaldum were left chasing shadows for much of their time on the pitch.

Both players were hooked around the hour mark, and while fans have slammed the skipper for his display, the 5 foot 9 Dutchman’s performance has divided the Anfield faithful.

On the one hand, he completed 100% of his passes during the match. However, none of those were key passes, and some fans have crucified the midfielder for playing too safe.

He made very little impact defensively either, making just one tackle, no interceptions, no clearances and no blocks, per WhoScored.

Take a look at some of the divided reaction down below…

QPR fans reveal how much they think Eberechi Eze is worth

Lots of QPR fans have taken to Twitter to reveal how much they think Eberechi Eze is worth. The former Millwall man has been in brilliant form so far this season under Mark Warburton, already equalling his goal tally from last term with four strikes to his name.

Eze – who was handed a maiden England Under-21 call-up earlier this season for his impressive efforts – has also grabbed two assists in his 11 Championship appearances, whilst winning four WhoScored Man of the Match awards – the 21-year-old wins the award every 2.75 games on average.

Premier League duo Tottenham and Southampton have previously been linked with the attacking midfielder, and loads of QPR fans on Twitter have now revealed how much they think their No.10 is worth.

One fan said Eze is “priceless”, whereas another said that he is easily worth between £25m – £30m.

Leeds fans take issue with Andrea Radrizzani after Twitter comments

Looks like someone hasn’t been listening.

Leeds United’s owner Andrea Radrizzani came under a lot of criticism last week from Danny Mills for voicing his views on Gaetano Berardi’s red card on Twitter, saying that it would be better if members of the board stayed off Twitter.

Well, he hasn’t heeded that warning, as Radrizzani waded in on the ever so precious debate of whether or not Eddie Nketiah should be getting more game time.

This all comes in the wake of the Arsenal loanee saying that he is unhappy about his lack of minutes.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, he seemed to take issue with the fact that people were trying to make an issue out of something that isn’t really a big deal to him.

Granted some of it could have been lost in translation, but it just goes back to Mills’ point about an owner getting involved with things on social media.

Whether or not he did so with good intentions, it gave the fans an opportunity to just add more fuel to the fire and pile the pressure onto the owner to convince him to make changes, despite the fact he doesn’t pick the team.

Although some of them used it to attack the owner directly for his perceived misunderstanding of Nketiah’s words.
