West Ham fans want major changes at club following Liverpool defeat

Moving into the London Stadium was supposed to mark the start of an exciting new era at West Ham United, which would lead to Champions League football in a few seasons.

It has been a nightmare start to the 2017-18 campaign, however, with West Ham sitting just outside of the relegation zone in the Premier League.

After dropping two late points away to basement side Crystal Palace last weekend, the Hammers took a 4-1 thumping from Liverpool at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It will not come as much of a surprise to learn that the majority of the club’s fans want head coach Slaven Bilic to be sacked, but there appears to be a deeper problem.

Indeed, going by the reaction on Twitter, there are a number of West Ham supporters that want the board to be sacked, in addition to a number of players.

It is thought that Bilic will be replaced by former Everton and Manchester United boss towards the start of next month, but the club’s fanbase have already made their feelings on Moyes pretty clear. They do not want him, period.

It is currently a very difficult time to be a West Ham fan, that is for sure.

Southampton fans single Nathan Redmond out for criticism in training video

Southampton posted a video from the training ground on their official Twitter account on Thursday ahead of their trip to Liverpool on Saturday, and Saints fans were quick to single out winger Nathan Redmond for criticism.

The south coast will be hoping to bounce back from the disappointing 1-0 home defeat by Burnley before the international break at Anfield, and they will be looking to the likes of the 23-year-old to provide that attacking spark that has been missing this term – Mauricio Pellegrino’s men have scored nine goals in their 11 Premier League games.

The former Norwich City man was shown smashing a number of efforts in the top corner in the video, but he is without a goal in his last 14 appearances in all competitions for Saints and has just one in his last 21 outings.

Southampton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Redmond’s finishing in the social media post, and while one told him to “do that in a game”, another said that he should “wipe the arrogant smirk from his face” considering nobody has had more shots (27) than him without scoring in Europe’s top five leagues this term.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

Southampton fans happy to see Austin get back to scoring ways

Goals have been hard to come by for Southampton this season since Mauricio Pellegrino took charge in the summer.

Before taking on Everton at St Mary’s, the Saints had scored just nine goals in 12 Premier League games.

Despite having Shane Long, Manolo Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin at his disposal, Pellegrino struggled to drum up an attacking force.

On Sunday, though, the team managed to hit four against a troubled Everton side, who are lingering two points above the relegation zone.

Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis got on the scoreline, but the star of the show was Austin, who netted twice and proved to be a threatening figure up front.

The former Queens Park Rangers forward had gone eight games in all competitions without finding the back of the net.

In 11 outings, Austin has a tally of just three goals, but on only two occasions has he been named in Pellegrino’s first XI.

After his performance against the Toffees, some fans are hopeful that the forward will receive more minutes in upcoming games.

Mourinho says Shaw will get his chance, Manchester United fans react

Since suffering a horrific broken leg in September 2015, Luke Shaw has struggled to establish himself as a key player in Manchester United’s team.

Under manager Jose Mourinho, the left-back has spent the majority of his time at Old Trafford either on the substitutes bench or out of the squad completely.

Injuries have played a part, but Shaw’s fitness issues and alleged lack of commitment and drive have led to suggestions that his time at United is nearing an end.

At times, Mourinho has not held back in his public criticism of the England international, who has made just two substitute appearances this season – both of which were in the Carabao Cup.

Ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League Group A game against CSKA Moscow, Mourinho claimed that Shaw will be in the squad, but has refused to confirm whether or not the left-back will start.

United will only fail to make the last 16 if they lose by six goals or more.

Revealed: Over two thirds of Leeds fans want to sign Khazri

According to reports, Sunderland’s want away World Cup star Wahbi Khazri could leave the club very soon, and a whopping 71 per cent of Leeds fans want to make a move.

According to Roker Report, Ligue 1 side Rennes have offered Khazri a four-year deal worth £44,000 per week.

The Tunisian talisman was sensational at the World Cup, and is set to leave the Stadium of Light after their relegation to League One.

There will be more than a few teams sniffing around the 27 year-old, who scored nine goals on loan in France last season, and Leeds fans are hoping they join the hunt.

Marcelo Bielsa is yet to make any major signings since taking over, and grabbing Khazri could be a huge coup.

The versatile attacker scored twice and added two assists in three World Cup games, something no other player was able to do during the group stage. Eat your hearts out Neymar and Isco.

Khazri would create loads of chances for whoever Bielsa eventually brings in as his new number nine, and you can find the full poll results down below, where fans are practically begging for a summer swoop…

Arsenal fans have mixed feelings about links to Matteo Guendouzi

Arsenal are close to sealing a move for Lorient youngster Matteo Guendouzi according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old has impressed for the Ligue 2 side in the two seasons he has featured there and had been previously linked with a move to Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Guendouzi is valued at £2.25million on Transfermarkt and he would be Unai Emery’s fourth signing of the summer since joining Arsenal, after Berd Leno, Sokratis and Stephan Lichsteiner joined the Gunners.

Some people have compared the central midfielder’s playing style to other Arsenal target Adrien Rabiot who played under Emery at Paris Saint-Germain.

However, with Rabiot valued at £45million on Transfermarkt and Guendouzi potentially available for £7million, Arsenal would be saving rather a lot by opting for the talented teenager.

Arsenal fans have been reacting to the latest transfer transfer news on social media and here’s a selection of some of their best comments.

Signing Pjaca would transform Newcastle’s attack

Newcastle have been heavily linked with a move for Andros Townsend, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Real Madrid should clear the way for them to land highly-rated youngster Marko Pjaca instead.

What’s the story?

Crystal Palace’s Townsend has been heavily linked with a move to Tyneside for quite some time, with a move expected for the winger if Stoke City secure Matt Ritchie.

While plenty of fans have expressed their concerns about losing Ritchie and replacing him with a player who jumped ship when they were relegated, it does seem like Rafael Benitez has his heart set on a player with more attacking impetus than the industrious Ritchie.

This is why Pjaca’s availability at Juventus should have alarm bells ringing on Tyneside, as the young Croatian would bring the best of both worlds.

The 23 year-old was reportedly offered to Liverpool recently for £22m, which is only slightly more than Townsend would cost, and he would bring Ritchie’s work rate to the table but with all the pace and skill of Townsend.

It could be difficult to lure Pjaca to Tyneside, but do not underestimate the pulling power of a world class manager like Benitez. The World Cup finalist was extremely highly rated when he signed for Juventus, but has struggled to nail down a place in the side and the arrival of Ronaldo has pushed him towards the exit door.

How good is he?

Pjaca was actually likened to Ronaldo as a youngster because of his stature, standing at 6 ft 1, which is pretty big for a winger. The versatile youngster can play on either side, but would of course play on the right hand side for Newcastle, opposite the electric Kenedy.

Above all else, fans at St. James’ Park want to be entertained, and having Kenedy and Pjaca on opposite wings would certainly entertain. The 19-cap Croatian is incredibly fast, direct, and can cut onto either foot while dribbling, which makes him almost impossible to defend. Basically, his combination of speed, strength and agility is truly terrifying.

He is also a very intelligent player for his age, scoring 35 league goals in 61 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb before his big move to Turin, thanks mainly to his movement. He loves cutting inside and popping shots from distance, but he also has an incredible knack of ghosting in behind the defence, and would certainly enjoy latching on to some of Jonjo Shelvey’s through balls.

If Rafa wants a dynamic, pacey winger that knows where the back of the net is for around £20m, then Pjaca would be the perfect signing. He is the best parts of both Ritchie and Townsend put together, and might even be a bigger hit on Tyneside than Kenedy.

So, Newcastle fans, do you think Pjaca would be a good signing? Could you see it happening if Stoke pay up for Ritchie? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…

Spurs should swoop on Leicester City to land this £22.5m-rated World Cup star

Spurs look set for an important summer this time around as manager Mauricio Pochettino looks to finally deliver some silverware to the Londoners next term.

A talent laden squad will be expected to compete at the top end of the Premier League once again, and the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen will hope to be the key cogs in bringing success to the club and their new stadium.

However, there is an overriding thought that the current squad might just not have enough to win the big titles, and we here in the Tavern think that a few new additions wouldn’t go amiss.

One player who impressed in this summer’s World Cup and would be an excellent addition to the squad is Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who was superb for the Foxes last term and looked even better for Nigeria in Russia.

The £22.5m-rated midfielder looks ready to take the next step up in his career, and a move to a club like Spurs with lofty ambitions and an embedded way of playing across the team, would make senses.

Ndidi is strong as an ox, good on the ball, and at 21, has plenty of time to develop and fill the boots left by a departing Moussa Dembele at Spurs.

The Nigerian would be a superb addition, and we think Spurs would have themselves one hell of a player if they can indeed seal a summer deal for the Leicester man.

Spurs fans what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!

Two players who could solve Chelsea’s back up ‘keeper dilemma

Following speculation about his future, Petr Cech has told the official Arsenal website that he is focused on staying with the Gunners and fighting for his place between the sticks.

Cech had been linked with a return to Chelsea, the club where he spent 11 seasons and won plenty of silverware. However, at 36-years-old, his return to Stamford Bridge would likely have been to play a back up role, and replace the club’s current second choice, Willy Caballero.

Caballero, whose howler at this summer’s World Cup in Russia cost him his place in Argentina’s starting line up, needs replacing by the Blues. Should injury or suspension befall the club’s no. 1, currently Thibaut Courtois, then few will have faith in Caballero to be a reliable deputy.

With Cech now seemingly out of reach, Chelsea must look elsewhere to find a new ‘keeper to provide back up and competition to Courtois.

Even with the imminent arrival of veteran Rob Green, reported by The Sun, it is likely that the ex-England shot stopper would come in as third choice whilst Jamal Blackman serves a stint on loan.

Following the emergence of Alex McCarthy last season and the recent arrival of Angus Gunn, Forster’s standing in the pecking order at Southampton has never been lower.

A move to Chelsea, where he would find first team minutes hard to come by, may not suit the 30-year-old who likely has ambitions of forcing his way back into the England picture.

However, if Chelsea could convince the ex-Celtic man to come to Stamford Bridge as a stand in and cup competition ‘keeper, then they’d have a very solid no. 2 option on their books.

Transfermarkt value Forster at £13.5 million, which would be a great price for the Blues to land him for.

According to The Sun, Chelsea have already shown an interest in signing Joe Hart this summer.

The man who was England’s no. 1 at Euro 2016 has found his career in continual decline since his poor showing at that tournament.

Loan spells with Torino and West Ham have failed to revitalise the Premier League winner’s form, and if he is to make himself first choice again somewhere he could have to take a step down to Championship level.

For Chelsea though, he’d make for a more comforting back up than Caballero.

Transfermarkt value Hart at £9 million, and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has already stated that he is prepared to allow the goalkeeper to leave the club this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.

Wolves fans react as target Zinchenko states he wants to remain at champions City

Oleksandr Zinchenko was a surprise success story as Manchester City romped to the Premier League title last season, filling in out of position at left-back in the absence of Benjamin Mendy through long-term injury.

The youngster is a creative midfielder but Pep Guardiola’s forward-thinking mentality and intense coaching methods helped ensure that Zinchenko ably deputised in defence as City became the first Premier League side in history to garner 100 points in a single season.

Those impressive performances reportedly attracted the interest of Wolves, with Nuno Santo looking to add even more quality to the gifted squad many expect to make a real splash in the Premier League.

However, the Daily Mirror report that Zinchenko is desperate to remain with the champions because they are one of the best teams in the world and that is where he wants to continue his development.

That has led Wolves fans on Twitter to urge Santo to snub a move for the City man and focus their interest on players who are interested…
