Somente no departamento de futebol, o Palmeiras faturou R$ 900,2 milhões, enquanto teve uma despesa de R$ 695,8 milhões, ou seja, o futebol foi superavitário em mais de R$ 200 milhões. Como dito acima, fruto das conquistas palmeirenses durante a última temporada, principalmente as da Libertadores, que somente nas finais premiou com quase R$ 80 milhões.

Mas nem tudo são flores. Segundo o documento apresentado pelo clube, há três áreas deficitárias: Esportes não profissionais, Allianz Parque e Áreas de Apoio (Backoffice), que juntas tiveram um rombo de R$ 89,2 milhões. Confira:

O déficit do Allianz Parque tende a ser revertido neste ano, já que a tendência é que o público volte ao estádio, sem novas restrições por conta da pandemia de Covid-19. Em 2020, mesmo com poucos jogos, a arena teve um lucro de R$ R$ 7,2 milhões. Mesmo assim, as despesas são altas e exigem que novos recursos sejam buscados para a manutenção desses pagamentos. Se mantiver esses gastos, será necessário faturar mais de R$ 825 milhões na temporada 2022.

Apesar de ter antecipado esses números na última quinta-feira, o Palmeiras somente irá divulgar o balanço detalhado no mês de abril, que é o prazo dado pela Lei Pelé para os clubes apresentarem seus resultados financeiros.

Amorim got training underway as United’s new head coach on Monday, after waiting for his visa to be confirmed. The Portuguese has had to work with a limited group of players due to the international break, but he will be hoping everyone is back at Carrington by Thursday at the latest.

One player who has been part of the training group since the beginning of the week is defender Leny Yoro, and Amorim is said to already “love” the Frenchman. Yoro has yet to make his competitive debut for the club due to an injury he picked up in pre-season, but he could be in line to make the matchday squad on Sunday, as he eyes a return to fitness. Yoro has been in training for a few weeks now, and despite not being at the club for long, Amorim already loves him and Kobbie Mainoo and sees them as the future of the club.

Fabrizio Romano said: “Kobbie Mainoo is a crucial player for Manchester United owners, directors, and for Manchester United staff. Ruben Amorim loves these kind of players. Kobbie Mainoo and Leny Yoro, these sort of players are exactly the direction he wants to take for Man United’s future.

“So the new contract of Mainoo is going to be an important topic in the next few weeks and months. Man United are still working on it. We are not yet at the final stages, but the conversation remains ongoing, and the conversation remains positive on both player and club sides.”

While Amorim loves Yoro, the Portuguese and Man United also have their eye on another defender, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time now.

According to The Daily Mail’s Confidential, Manchester United are still keen on signing Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton in January and tops the club’s Christmas list of targets. The 22-year-old has been with the Toffees since 2020, but it is only in recent years that he has been given a chance in the first team, which he has taken and performed very well.

Branthwaite, who has been described as “special” in the past by Jamie Carragher, stepped up to the first team at Goodison Park last season, playing 35 games in the Premier League and scoring three goals in the process. The centre-back hasn’t featured as much this season due to an injury but did start the last game against West Ham.

This report states United have held more talks in recent weeks about the possibility of making a January move for Branthwaite. The Red Devils are looking to operate on a more restrictive budget going forward, but the defender has plenty of admirers from Old Trafford, and there is a sense of urgency around this deal, given there are plenty of other teams interested in his services.

Stand-in goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen made some fantastic stops to keep the home side at bay, with both Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku – two players who are struggling for minutes in the Premier League – netting their goals in the 2-0 away win.

Enzo Maresca, in his post-match press conference, heaped praise on his fringe players for coming and doing the job against Heidenheim – who were by no means easy customers on the night despite their lowly league position.

“They did fantastic. I think all of them. Jadon Sancho did a very good game,” said Maresca on Chelsea’s performance against Heidenheim.

“Axel [Disasi] and Benoit [Badiashile], Cesare [Casadei] did very well. It is important they are ready when they get the chance. Filip did a very good game, Christo the same. We have a game on Sunday and then on Wednesday. We have nine or 10 games in December, so it is more or less a game every two or three days. They are going to get chances so they need to be ready.

“Jadon is very important to us. He is very important. He has to be fit, mentally and physically; he is going to help us a lot. Unfortunately, we did not use him in the last few games but he is showing now how important he is to us.

“Especially against the teams that defend in the low block, we need that quality in the last third. Sometimes he will shoot more but I think he is going to help us a lot. I think it is difficult to find players that tonight did not play well. All of them did very good. This is what we need.”

Despite their array of attacking talent, Chelsea are believed to be in the market for a new attacker, with Getafe sensation Christantus Uche attracting their attention.

As relayed by Nigerian news outlet soccernet, Chelsea are reportedly in contact over signing Uche, which comes as little surprise considering the 21-year-old’s exceptional rise.

The African sensation, who cost Getafe just €500,000 to sign in the summer, was playing amateur football in his native Nigeria just two years ago – but he’s now shining in La Liga.

Uche has played as both a centre-forward and attacking midfielder for Getafe in the Spanish top-flight side, with Football Espana lauding the “breakout star” who’s been on an “insane” trajectory.

It is also believed that his Getafe contract includes a £21m release clause, so this may not be a tricky deal to do.
