The return of the Premier League is less than three weeks away, and while they still had a good campaign last season, Arsenal will be desperate to go one better in 2024/25.

Last year, Mikel Arteta's side produced the best defence in the league but scored five goals fewer than Manchester City, which saw them miss out on the title by just two points on the final day.

According to a recent report from Football Transfers, Arsenal have rekindled their interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

In recent weeks, it had been widely reported that the Nigerian superstar was set to join French giants Paris Saint-Germain once negotiations between the two clubs were completed. However, according to this report, that deal is now dead and very much off the table following the Parisians' refusal to pay the striker's €130m release clause, which is about £109m.

As a result, other clubs, including Arsenal, have re-entered the frame, with Football Transfers claiming that the Gunners have returned to Napoli to reopen talks over a potential move.

If the North Londoners were to pay his full release clause, it would be a record-breaking transfer, but based on his performances over the last couple of seasons, he's likely worth it – he could also make Odegaard one of the best midfielders in the world.

Why Osimhen would make Odegaard unplayable

So, while there may be several reasons why Osimhen would help Odegaard truly assert himself as one of the best midfielders in the world, there is one leading and overriding reason: his incredible output.

The Arsenal captain has proven he's a brilliant leader, technician and even goalscorer over the last few seasons. However, had he been playing alongside a genuinely clinical striker since joining the club, his tally of 25 assists in 153 appearances would be significantly higher.

According to Understat, the Norwegian international has consistently fallen short of his expected assists in the league by at least 1.50 every year for the past three seasons. This underscores the fact that his teammates are not converting the chances he creates as frequently as they should.

This is where the "world-class" Nigerian, as dubbed by managerial icon José Mourinho, would come into play, as in his 133 appearances for Napoli, he has scored 76 goals, equating to a goal every 1.75 games.

Moreover, over the last season, he has comfortably outperformed Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, racking up 57 goal involvements to the German's 31 and the Brazilian's 34.

Ultimately, while he's likely going to cost a king's ransom, Osimhen has proven himself to be one of the best goalscorers in world football, and with him playing in front of the mercurial Odegaard next season, the Gunners could end up outscoring everyone in the league, with the Norwegian racking up the most assists.

Therefore, Edu and Co should do whatever they can to ensure the Napoli star makes his way to N5 in the coming weeks.

Teenage KRC Genk goalkeeper Mike Penders is reportedly on the verge of joining Chelsea after agreeing to join Enzo Maresca's side. Reports claim a £16.8 million Chelsea deal is agreed for Penders, who will remain at Genk on loan for the rest of the season to further his development.

Chelsea were even considering Raheem Sterling as a makeweight in talks for Olise, but the 22-year-old instead chose to link up with Vincent Kompany in Bavaria.

It will be interesting to see who they opt to bring in as an alternative, with Juventus star Federico Chiesa emerging as a possibility recently.

He scored 10 goals and assisted three others for Juve last season, and according to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea have been offered Chiesa by his agent as they consider taking him up on the proposal.

“The agent of Federico Chiesa has approached Chelsea, SPTC sources understand," wrote Phillips. “Chelsea have not yet given a definitive answer, and have been considering it.

"But sources think it’s unlikely. His agent spoke to Chelsea though because we have had recent interest in Chiesa. Thomas Tuchel suggested him to the board when he was in charge, and the board did seriously look at signing him. It wasn’t possible or viable at that time, but Chiesa does still have some admirers at Chelsea, so let’s see if anything comes of that one."

The £150,000-per-week forward could be available for a cut-price £25 million due to his contract, which is set to expire next year. The winger also boasts over half a century of caps for Italy at international level, and helped the Azzurri clinch a Euro 2020 title at the expense of England.

The arrival of former FC St Pauli boss Fabian Hürzeler this summer following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi has ushered in a new era at the AMEX stadium, and they have not been afraid to back their new manager in the transfer market.

The Seagulls' record transfer heading into the transfer window stood at the £29m that they splashed out on Joao Pedro 12 months ago, but that has since been eclipsed by the arrival of Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle in a deal that set them back £30m earlier in the summer.

He has by no means been the only expensive addition either; in fact, three of Brighton's four most expensive ever signings have come this summer. The south coast side have also added Mats Weiffer from Feyenoord in a £25m move, as well as concluding a deal for 20-year-old winger Brajan Gruda more recently, which set them back another £25m.

وقال أراوخو في تصريحات عبر شبكة “موفيستار” الإسبانية: “سعيد جدًا بالهدف بعد تجديد عقدي مع برشلونة، يمكن للجميع رؤية العمل الذي أقوم به وما أقدمه على أرض الملعب”.

وتابع: “أشعر بتقدير الجماهير، وسأبقى هنا لسنوات عديدة إذا كان القرار بيدي، أريد الاستمرار هنا مع برشلونة”.

وعن مباراة أتالانتا، قال أراوخو: “قدمنا شوطًا أول جيدًا، وكنا قريبين من إنهاء مجموعة دوري أبطال أوروبا في الصدارة، لكننا أضعنا الفرصة في النهاية أمام خصم قوي مثل أتالانتا”.

واستمر: “كانت مواجهة رائعة ومثيرة بكل المقاييس، لم نتمكن من تحقيق المركز الأول الذي كنا نطمح إليه، لكنني سعيد بما قدمناه في هذه المرحلة من البطولة”.

وشدد في النهاية: “الجماهير متحمسة لما هو قادم، ولدينا فريق رائع، لكن علينا أن نحافظ على هذا الأداء ونكون متواضعين ونواصل العمل بجد”.
