As they look to add to the arrival of Lloyd Kelly, Newcastle United have reportedly been given permission to speak to one particular target this summer who is a man in demand.
Newcastle transfer news
The Magpies have been forced to spend wisely this summer to avoid any profit and sustainability breach with the Premier League, with sales likely also needed to maintain their innocence on that front. The signing of Kelly was, therefore, smart business given that the former Bournemouth defender arrived on a free deal following the expiry of his contract at the Cherries.
Since Kelly's arrival, Newcastle have wasted no time before turning their attention towards further additions. With an eye on Euro 2024, those at St James' Park have been linked with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has already impressed for underdogs Georgia. It remains to be seen whether the Magpies will splash the cash to land his signature this summer, however.
Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili
Instead, they could save their funds to land a significant upgrade on Miguel Almiron. According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle have been given permission to speak to Michael Olise over a potential move.
Newcastle expected to make offer for £8.5m+ player from European Champions

ByTom Coates Jun 19, 2024
The Crystal Palace winger has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Chelsea – the supposed frontrunners for his signature – whilst also being offered a new contract at Selhurst Park.
There may have been concerns over Newcastle's ability to join the race for the Frenchman's signature following reports that his £60m release clause could only be triggered by clubs in the Champions League. Matt Law has since reported via The Chronicle that he believes no such release clause exists, however.
"Brilliant" Olise would be a major upgrade on Almiron
Linked with a summer exit and coming into pre-season off the back of a disappointing campaign, Almiron's place in the Newcastle side would be instantly thrown into doubt by the arrival of Olise. The Palace star, who earns a reported £100k-a-week in South London, would hand Eddie Howe an undoubted upgrade if he completes a move to St James' Park.

Scoring almost double the amount of goals that were expected from his chances, there's plenty more to come from Olise, who should be seen as the type of player Newcastle must secure if they want to return to the Champions League.
Described as "brilliant" by Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, Olise has plenty to think about this summer, as he makes the most important decision of his career yet.

Multan was originally scheduled to host the three-match ODI series

Logistical challenges have caused the PCB to replace Multan, which was one of the venues lined up to host Zimbabwe’s limited-overs series in Pakistan later this month, with Lahore. ESPNcricinfo understands that the PCB and the city government in Multan had a disagreement over the financial outlay, with the PCB deciding it would cost less for Lahore to host the leg of the tour that had initially been planned for Multan. The tour, comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is, remains as scheduled with the exception of the venue switch. It will begin when a 32-man Zimbabwe squad arrives in Lahore on October 20. Multan was scheduled to host the ODIs on October 30, November 1 and November 3, followed by three T20Is in Rawalpindi on November 7, 8 and 10. The dates of the matches are most likely to remain the same, but it is not yet clear which venue hosts which format. The change of venue means a five-member Zimbabwe delegation will arrive in Pakistan tomorrow to assess arrangements for the bio-secure bubble. The delegation will begin its reconnaissance in Lahore and will travel to Rawalpindi on Monday before flying back to Harare on October 14.This tour is the second by Zimbabwe to Pakistan in the last five years. In 2015, they became the first Full Member nation to visit Pakistan since the Lahore terror attack on Sri Lanka’s team bus in March 2009. Since then, Pakistan has played host to an increasing number of high-profile matches, beginning with the PSL final in Lahore in 2017. An ICC-sanctioned World XI arrived to play three T20Is later that year, and the entirety of the PSL took place in Pakistan this year. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh came to Pakistan to play international cricket as recently as February 2020, before a Test match against Bangladesh scheduled in Karachi in April was postponed indefinitely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Zimbabwe tour will make Pakistan just the second Full Member country to host international cricket at home during the pandemic. England hosted to a full summer of cricket that saw West Indies, Pakistan and Australia play bilateral series, while the IPL, currently ongoing, was moved to the UAE.After enduring a rough period in May and June with regards to the transmission rates of Covid-19 in the country, Pakistan has been largely spared the worst of the pandemic. Even so, no crowds will be permitted for the series against Zimbabwe, or indeed the three remaining knockout fixtures of the Pakistan Super League, scheduled to be played in Lahore next month. The PCB accrued some experience of the requisite Covid-19 procedures when Pakistan toured England, and has created a bio secure environment which is currently in force for the ongoing domestic season.
Manchester City are tracking one of the season's breakout stars, it has emerged, with the defender seemingly set to move this summer.
Man City eyeing fifth straight Premier League title
Having made history as the first side to win four consecutive Premier League titles, Pep Guardiola's side now know that they will kick off their bid for a fifth with a tricky trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea, now managed by former City assistant Enzo Maresca. There is plenty of work to be done in the transfer market before that though, with uncertainty throughout the Manchester City squad.
In goal, Stefan Ortega has signed a new contract until 2026 but Ederson's future remains unclear amid interest from Saudi Arabia in the Brazilian.
There is also interest from the Gulf region in Kevin de Bruyne, who admitted that he would consider a departure from the Etihad as his contract enters its final year. Elsewhere, fringe duo Kalvin Phillips and Sergio Gomez are primed to depart, while there has been speculation surrounding the likes of John Stones, Jack Grealish and even 2023 signing Matheus Nunes.
Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona for several seasons, and has a reported £50m release clause in his contract for such a deal to be set up this summer. With all that in mind, it promises to be a summer of change in Manchester, and they are keeping an eye on future talents just in case.
City's Calafiori Curiosity
Now, it has been claimed by The Athletic that City are "curious" about Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, who starred for Italy in their EURO 2024 opening game win over Albania. The defender, who has enjoyed a stunning season under Thiago Motta at Bologna, was asked to play on the left side of defence alongside Alessandro Bastoni, and stole the headlines.

Azzurri icon Gianluca Zambrotta hailed his "extraordinary" performance after the win: “He played an extraordinary game, like the whole team in the first 60 minutes.
"He played with personality, without fear, perhaps the only flaw was on the long ball where we took a risk with Donnarumma’s exit. But he showed some beautiful things yesterday.”

After one particular game for Bologna, teammate Riccardo Orsolini shouted that "He was like Maldini!”, but if you ask Calafiori himself, it is another defender he is trying to emulate.
With that in mind, the defender could well be an option for Guardiola's side in the unlikely event that Stones departs, though his left-footed nature would more than likely see him competing with the ever-dependable Nathan Ake for a spot in the Cityzens' backline.
Either way, he seems set to leave Bologna this summer despite still having three years left on his £12k per week deal with the club. The in-form Italian is wanted by a whole host of clubs, including his former coach, who now heads Juventus, while Tottenham are also said to be chasing him. Should City be anything more than curious, they will have to move fast to land their man.
Manchester City's squad does not lack much and that has been evident by their impressive trophy haul in recent seasons under Pep Guardiola.
They won the treble in the 2022/23 campaign and followed that up with another Premier League title last season, which means that they are now seeking five in a row next term.
One thing that they do not have in abundance, however, is pace on the flanks since the likes of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane moved on from The Etihad, with Jeremy Doku currently being the club's only speedy wide player.
Guardiola could now finally replace Sterling, who joined Chelsea for £50m two years ago, by signing a Champions League winner to add a direct, pacey, option on the right side of his attack in the 2024/25 campaign.,
Man City's interest in Champions League winner
TEAMtalk reported earlier this month that the Cityzens are the only team with a 'concrete' interest in signing Real Madrid forward Rodrygo this summer.
The outlet claimed that the Sky Blues are keen on a deal for the Brazil international as Guardiola believes that he would be an ideal addition to his already-impressive array of attacking options.
Real Madrid forward Rodrygo.
TEAMtalk added that the Spanish giants, who won the Champions League last season, would demand a mouth-watering fee of £100m to allow the 23-year-old star to depart.
It remains to be seen, however, whether or not City are prepared to place £100m on the table for the Brazilian wizard to add him to their squad this summer.
If the Premier League champions can get a deal over the line for the right-footed speedster, though, then they could finally replace Sterling on the wing.
Why Rodrygo could be Sterling 2.0
Firstly, Rodrygo is a pacey forward, who was named as one of the fastest players in LaLiga last year due to his 'electric' movement, who can offer a direct threat in behind opposition defences.
Whilst the likes of Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva can offer control and ball retention on the flanks, the Real Madrid star can provide something different with his speed, movement, and goalscoring quality.
Alongside his pace and runs in behind, Sterling was a big goal threat for City and ended his career at the club with a return of 131 goals in 339 appearances in all competitions – better than one every three matches on average.

As you can see in the table above, Rodrygo hit double figures for goals in La Liga, whereas Grealish, Doku, and Bernardo combined for just 12 Premier League strikes.
The Brazil international, who U23 scout Antonio Mango dubbed "sensational", has plundered 36 goals in all competitions since the start of the 2022/23 campaign, which speaks to his reliability in front of goal, with 18 goals per season on average.

Guardiola would be bringing in a fast and direct forward, who can play on either flank or through the middle, and bolster his wing options due to his superior goalscoring quality in comparison to Grealish, Bernardo, and Doku, which is why Rodrygo could be Sterling 2.0.

Hardik Pandya’s stunning 60 not out off 21 went in vain

Chopra: ‘Players like Stokes know how to swim in the deep end’
Ben Stokes finally came to the party with an unbeaten 107 off 60 balls as the Rajasthan Royals chased down Mumbai Indians’ 195 for 5 with relative ease in the end in Abu Dhabi. The win not only kept the Royals in the race for the playoffs – they are now sixth on the points table with ten points from 12 games – but also brought the curtain down on the Chennai Super Kings’ campaign.Earlier, Hardik Pandya’s 60 not out off 21 balls, studded with seven sixes and two fours, had lit up the evening. But that didn’t prove enough as Stokes and Sanju Samson added 152 off 82 balls in an unbroken third-wicket partnership to take the Royals home with ten balls to spare.Archer snares in-form de Kock earlyQuinton de Kock had scores of 53, 78*, 53 and 46* coming into this game. He looked primed for another good knock when he pulled a 149.6kph Jofra Archer delivery for a six to get off the mark. Archer, however, pitched the next ball a little fuller and a bit wider, and de Kock chopped on with an angled bat. From the other end, Ankit Rajpoot was a bit wayward and Ishan Kishan, opening once again in the absence of Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav took full advantage of that. In the sixth over, both of them hit Rajpoot for a six each to take the side to 59 for 1 at the end of the powerplay.Gopal double-strike pulls Mumbai backThe Royals turned to their two legspinners – Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia – after that and the move worked straightaway as the next two overs produced only eight runs. Yadav then tried to take Gopal on by going inside-out but ended up slicing it over point for four. He attempted the same shot on the next ball and this time ended up hitting it in the air towards deep cover. Tewatia charged towards the ball, put in the dive, got his fingers underneath the ball but couldn’t hold on to it.Kishan, who was struggling to score beyond a run a ball, then slashed at Kartik Tyagi. The ball flew towards third man where Archer misjudged it before plucking it one-handed over his head to leave his team-mates gasping. A couple of overs later, Gopal dented Mumbai further by removing Yadav and Kieron Pollard in the same over. While Yadav holed out to long-off, Pollard failed to read a googly and was bowled through the gate. That was the first time Pollard was dismissed since the opening game of the tournament.Hardik blitz gives Mumbai powerful finish3:07
Chopra: Such a Hardik Pandya innings was brewing for a while
Mumbai were 120 for 4 when Tewatia dropped Hardik on the last ball of the 16th over. This was a bit easier than the one he grassed earlier, the only difference being he was fielding at deep midwicket this time. Hardik made full use of the opportunity and smashed Rajpoot for four sixes in the 18th over, three of them off full tosses. Archer conceded only three in the 19th over but Hardik wasn’t done yet. After Krunal Pandya took a single off the first ball of the final over, Hardik unleashed himself on Tyagi. Standing deep inside his crease, he hit the next five balls for 6, 4, 4, 6 and 6 to take Mumbai to a daunting total, with 74 runs coming off the last four overs.Royals off to quick start despite Pattinson double-strikeBefore this game, Stokes had scored only 110 runs off 103 balls in IPL 2020. Questions were being raised if opening with him was the right thing to do, and if the Royals should move him down the order and open with Jos Buttler instead. The Royals needed a quick start to chase down 196 and losing Robin Uthappa in the second over, who mistimed James Pattinson to mid-on, didn’t help. With the Royals 13 for 1 at the end of two overs, Stokes was yet to face a ball. But he soon hit his stride with four fours off Trent Boult in the third over. Steven Smith, who promoted himself to No. 3, then struck a four and six off Jasprit Bumrah in the next over before Pattinson bowled him with an inducker. But Stokes hit the last two balls of the sixth over for fours, bowled by Krunal, to ensure the Royals didn’t bog down. The Stokes and Samson showStokes was now growing in confidence. In the eighth over, he slog-swept Rahul Chahar over deep midwicket for his first six of the season. The next ball was sent past backward point courtesy a reverse sweep. That allowed Samson to settle down as well. While the Royals reached 99 for 2 at the end of ten overs, they still needed another 97.A couple of quiet overs made it 89 required from 48 balls. It was then Samson who took the pressure off Stokes with some timely blows. On 19 off 18 at the end of the 12th over, Samson hit two sixes and two fours in the next two overs to bring it down to 52 needed from the last six overs. With both batsmen in top gear by now, that wasn’t a big ask. With Bumrah straying down the leg side, Samson took him for two successive fours and then brought up his half-century, off 27 balls, with a brace.A couple of streaky fours further ate away from the target. With ten required, Stokes was three short of his hundred. He reached the landmark in style by hitting Pattinson for a six over midwicket and then sealed the game with a four on the next ball.
Chelsea endured a frustrating season last term as they failed to win a single major trophy under Mauricio Pochettino during the 2023/24 campaign.
The Blues lost to Liverpool in the final of the League Cup, which was the closest they came to silverware, and finished sixth in the Premier League, which means that they do not have Champions League football to look forward to.
Todd Boehly and his team made the decision to part ways with Pochettino at the end of that season and Enzo Maresca has been brought in from Leicester City, after winning the Championship title last term.
The Italian coach is now tasked with returning Chelsea to the glory days and competing for a top four place next term, if not for the title with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City.
Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have already been snapped up by the Blues in their attempts to bolster the squad to achieve their goals, but there could be more work to be done before the end of the transfer window.
Chelsea's pursuit of Bundesliga speedster
According to Caught Offside, the Premier League side are preparing an offer to sign Karim Adeyemi from German giants Borussia Dortmund.
The report claims that the London giants are set to bid €30m (£25m) to sign the Germany international to improve their options on the wings ahead of next season.
It states that Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United also have an interest in the forward, but Chelsea appear to be moving quickly to get in ahead of their rivals.
Borussia Dortmund striker KarimAdeyemi
Caught Offside adds that they plan to offer Adeyemi a long-term contract that would see his future secured through until the end of the 2030/31 campaign.
However, the report does not reveal whether or not the planned £25m offer will be enough to tempt Dortmund into cashing in on the Bundesliga speedster, whose pace was on full display against Chelsea a couple of seasons ago.
Caught Offside does, though, suggest that the 22-year-old dynamo could be brought in as a replacement for Raheem Sterling, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli could make a move to tempt the former England international into ending his stay at Stamford Bridge and move away from the Premier League, but he is said to be settled in London at this moment in time.
Instead of being a replacement for Sterling, though, Chelsea could sign Adeyemi to help them forget about a move for Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams.
Chelsea's interest in Nico Williams
It has been reported that the Blues are one of a number of teams interested in signing the Spain international before the end of the summer window.
Barcelona, Arsenal, and Liverpool are also said to be keen on the impressive winger but it is said that there are question marks over whether or not any of them are willing to meet his £49m release clause.
Spain star Nico Williams
Due to it being a release clause, rather than a negotiated price between clubs, any team wanting to sign Williams would have to stump up the full fee upfront, unless Athletic Bilbao are willing to negotiate a different structure.
Signing Adeyemi for £25m, possibly spread out over several payments and add-ons, could, therefore, be a fantastic alternative to the Spanish whiz.
Williams, who has produced one goal and one assist in four Euro 2024 matches, enjoyed an impressive season in LaLiga for Athletic Bilbao last term.

As you can see in the table above, the 21-year-old left winger showcased his superb creativity with ten 'big chances' put on a plate for his teammates, and 11 assists, in 31 matches.
Williams, who is a right-footed and direct forward on the left flank, did struggle somewhat with his finishing, though, with five goals from 6.02 xG in the Spanish top-flight.
This shows that he is far from the finished article and would be coming in as a project player for Maresca, which would also be the case with Adeyemi – who is only one year older.
Why Chelsea should sign Karim Adeyemi
The signing of the Dortmund forward would help the Blues to forget all about Williams and his expensive £49m release clause as he is also an explosive, rapid, winger who operates down the left flank.
It would need a bit of patience and faith from Chelsea supporters, though, as Adeyemi is coming off the back of a poor season at Dortmund, in which he scored three goals and provided one assist in 21 Bundesliga outings.
Borussia Dortmund striker KarimAdeyemi
Whilst that could be looked at from a negative perspective, it could be seen as a fantastic opportunity to sign him for a low fee – possibly the £25m quoted – and look to unearth his potential.
In the 2022/23 campaign, the German speedster produced six goals, from 5.05 xG, and created nine 'big chances' in just 20 Bundesliga starts for Dortmund.
These statistics show that he has the potential to be as creative as Williams, who provided ten 'big chances' in 31 league games last term, whilst possibly offering more quality as a finisher by overperforming his xG.

As you can see in the table above, the Chelsea target also showcased his goalscoring prowess in his final season in the Austrian Bundesliga with RB Salzburg prior to his move to Dortmund.
These statistics show that Adeyemi, who was described as a "nightmare" for defenders by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has previously proven his quality as both a scorer and a creator of goals in Austria and in Germany.
His downturn in form during the 2023/24 campaign should be looked at as an opportunity for Chelsea to revive his career and get him back to his very best.

That would then allow the club to forget all about Williams as they would have a left winger with the ability to cause constant problems for opposition defenders, for almost half as much money if they can bring him for £25m.
